From Different States to One Spirit
In the tapestry of life, some threads are woven with divine precision, creating a masterpiece of love that defies earthly measures. Such is the story of Hagos Hoard and Lindsay Williams.
Meeting and Divine Connection
About 18 months ago, Hagos and Lindsay's paths crossed in the most unexpected of ways. Both in their 40’s, they had come to a place of peace, believing the idea of marriage and a family was not in their future. Even though it had been a deep desire for them both for many years, they had come to a position of surrender as they rejected bitterness and both immersed themselves in the pursuit of full-time ministry, dedicating their lives to serving others and spreading the message of faith and hope as singles. Their physical locations were separated by state lines, with Hagos in one state and Lindsay in another. However, Hagos’ older sister, Jamila Hodge, was the first to notice the similarity in their servant hearts. Having had the chance to sit in on several classes taught by Lindsay at church, and knowing firsthand the gift of teaching that her brother employed in his daily life, Jamila thought that this could have the makings of a divine connection. After praying about it, she ultimately resolved to give them each other's contact information with the understanding that perhaps they could be mutually encouraged by someone who understood the demands of the ministry. While Lindsay was on stage wrapping an XLR cord after a long Christmas play rehearsal, Jami asked her if she was "interested in friendship." Lindsay, whose mind was far from a relationship, thought Jami was referring to sisterhood. She was caught totally off guard when she found out Jami was referring to her brother. Out of respect, Lindsay reluctantly said yes. Hagos made first contact via Facebook Messenger on December 14, 2023.
For the first couple months, things progressed slowly. An occasional message here, a word of encouragement there. However, last February, Hagos was invited to visit Maryland to escort his niece, Nylah Hodge to a Daddy-Daughter Dance at Cornerstone Church, where Lindsay just so happened to be serving. While impressed by her physical beauty, Hagos found himself taken by her selfless service to those around her. She was running around the entire night. And just like that, Hagos was smitten.
The next day, Jamila “just happened” to have a play-date scheduled for both her daughters with their beloved “Aunt Lindsay.” And it “just so happened” that “Uncle Hagos” was in town for the entire weekend. The woman that caught his eye the night before ended up at the very house where he was staying the following afternoon. As they spent the afternoon playing board games and chatting, they both recognized that they had several things in common. Besides a shared love of serving and teaching, they were both huge fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. The weekend drew to a close, and Hagos returned to his home in Missouri. Yet despite the distance, their hearts were being drawn together by a force greater than any geographical barrier. At one point it had been 5 days and Lindsay had not heard from Hagos. While at prayer vigil that night she told the Lord she would surrender her desires and told the Lord to "have His way." Little did she know that Hagos had also been praying and asking the Lord for guidance that entire week. 15 mins after Lindsay prayed that prayer of surrender, Hagos reached out to her. It was clear from the moment they met that their connection was more than just coincidental—it was divine. As time went on, it became increasingly evident that they were, indeed, "a match made in Heaven." Lindsay even found out that he was the same person that she and her church family had been interceding for just a few years prior for his miraculous Kidney transplant, another powerful testimony in the life of Hagos.
A Future Filled with Promise
Looking ahead, Hagos and Lindsay's love story is one of hope and promise. Their journey is a shining example of how divine intervention can bring two hearts together, transcending all obstacles and creating a union that is truly Heaven-sent.
As they continue to walk this path hand in hand, their love serves as an inspiration to all who know them. It is a testament to the power of faith, the beauty of commitment, and the joy of finding one's true soulmate.
In the end, Hagos and Lindsay's story is not just a recounting of events, it is a reminder that when two hearts are meant to be together, no distance is too great, and no challenge is too daunting. May their story serve as a source of hope to those who are believing God for the impossible, and a reminder that when we surrender all to Him, there is nothing He can not do!
